Most people have a belief in 'good and evil'. ~
(You're either a good person, or a bad person.) ~
This philosophy is, in my understanding, ~ a mistake.
I believe that the 'fight' is not between good
and evil, but between ignorance and understanding.
We do things in the belief that it is in our interest to do them.
The fact that it isn't in our interest is only seen later on.
We make mistakes, because only God is perfect, his son walked the earth and was once human, but he gave his life for our sins, or mistakes.
We replace ignorance with understanding.
Your story is a success story, not a story of failure ~
you are the same as I, you are one of God's children.
It is far easier to keep going down than it is to pick yourself up and you have chosen the difficult path.
I admire you for that and so should you.

missing the mark'.
You didn't 'sin', you just missed. We all do that ~
We are all " Human" ~ God forgives ~
all we have to do,
"IS ASK" !
As to raising the level of your self esteem, the 'rules' are honesty with yourself and others, and integrity ~ but always with PATIENCE ~
The practice of these things breeds self esteem.
The more we become involved in our emotions, the more fragmentary we become. The more we look outside ourselves to find 'love' and 'courage', the more we set ourselves up for disillusionment, suffering and failure.It's difficult to look in both directions at once~ Because of our feelings of insecurity we may be drawn into a search for God outside ourselves. ~
By seeking security in anything outside of ourselves we become involved in our emotions. By looking outward instead of inward we look the wrong way. God becomes a father figure rather than an intimate our being.
God made the world, then it isn't our fault, is it?
It is, however, our fault that the world is the way it is.
It is WE who are responsible.
We cannot blame God or the Devil for the mess.
It is up to each individual to take responsibility for what we see around us.
In order to change what we see around us, we must first ~ sometimes ~ change ourselves
~ then we can dance with the Angels ~
